My Bio

Hello and welcome to my web-site. I’m Helen Higgins, nicknamed “Goldengirl” and it is truly a pleasure to be able to share a little about my life with you. Married in New Jersey to Bob Higgins, a builder and farmer, we set out on a life together that has taken many turns but was never boring. Preferring hurricanes to blizzards we moved to Florida. Though not wealthy (sometimes we barely scraped by) but long hard hours at several jobs gave us the means to enjoy some of the good things in life. Now retired, wealth comes faster and easier by the wonder of the Internet. With the long life I’ve already enjoyed it’s not possible to tell you everything in this little bio. So I’ll share with you just some of the love and enjoyment I’ve been fortunate to experience, told below in a cascade of pictures from the life that Bob and I made together. I hope you enjoy them and take advantage of the great opportunities I have to offer. More importantly I wish for you and yours the very best that life has to offer. Enjoy!

I'm going home from work after a snowfall. This is what we left behind in New Jersey when we moved to Florida. We chose north Florida for the change in seasons, but mild and short winters.

Bob and Helen enjoying a quiet and relaxing Christmas Eve at home in Tallahassee, FL.

Bob (with his ever-present cigar) and son-in-law, Ed. We used his construction equipment to clear snow from driveways. Mechanic "Perky

Bob (white shirt) erecting one of his many custom-built homes in New Jersey. He built 3 small churches, a dozen service stations, and homes too numerous to count.

One thing about farming - a lot of territory to cover and jumping the fences kept us agile and active in our early 40's. We rented the farmland.

I loved taking pictures and am proud of this one of a mama duck with her brood. We also had chickens, geese, and bantams, as well as Angus cattle and Yorkshire pigs. We sold all to move to Florida.

I did office work at home for my husband's building business. I also drafted house plans that Bob built for speculation. I was blessed with many talents and put them to good use.

The winter was a good time for a builder/farmer to take a 2-week annual vacation. Here we were at Florida's Disney World with our daughter Barbara, our grandchildren Karen and Ed, and me enjoying the family time.

Florida beaches are great! This is Cocoa Beach, just south of Cape Canaveral. We watched the astronauts take off to go to the moon which was a real thrill!

One vacation took us to west Florida where we visited Florida Caverns. For information on time-share apartments available worldwide for your vacation (you choose from a list) at extremely low rates, email plantlady38@aol.com. Mention time-share.

Then there was the vacation to St. Augustine, America's oldest city. Granddaughter Karen is admiring the 'Old Guard' at the Fort.

Florida is mostly flat land (a few hills here and there) so we enjoyed holiday weekends visiting North Carolina to go gem hunting. Bob, granddaughter Karen and our daughter Barbara.

Our little dog, Mr. Poo, lived 17 years and went everywhere with us, even helped look for gems. You can buy jewelry and over a million other products for up to 50% off! Email me!

Bob's favorite pasttime was fishing, esp. in the Gulf of Mexico. He always brought home a good catch, so we could enjoy nature's healthful bounty. I can tell you many other ways to good health if you email me.

While Bob fished, I worked with my plants (one of my many hobbies), propagating and growing a variety of plants. It's a good way to keep active and is a wonderful outdoor exercise.

Our granddaughter Karen with a volunteer pumpkin and our dog, Mollie.

This was taken Aug. of 1967. This is Bob and our grandson with part of our organic watermelon crop, grown in FL. Stay healthy with fresh fruit and veggies everyday. I'll share my stay-young secrets, just email plantlady38@aol.com.

As a real estate broker, I specialized in land-acreage and subdivision lots. I loved the land, farms and forests, found them a pleasure to show and sell. Here I get a good-luck kiss from hubby.

We were given a party to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had almost 6 good years together after that.

Grandsons grow up, get married and give us great-grandchildren. This is grandson, Ed, wife Lillie, with their newborn, 'Chucky.'

Bob with newborn Charles (Chucky) the same day we learned of Bob's need for radiation treatment. We didn't spoil the family's happy time - we told them later on.

Chucky is growing - here he's about 5 months old with Grandpa Bob. Bob had lost alot of weight by this time, but he never gave up.

With Bob ailing, I took on another job. Having excellent Gregg shorthand experience, I was able to teach it part-time (evenings) at the local vocational school.

Bob put grandson Ed, his wife Lillie and their daughter Leslie to work in his organic vegetable garden. Even baby Chucky wants to pick beans.

Our second home in Florida that Bob built and we enjoyed for 10 years. I sold it and moved into the converted barn (see below) where I now work from home. I'll tell you how you can, too - email me!

Helen, as a secretary-bookkeeper. I went back to doing office work at age 65 when most people retire. With Bob gone, I had lost interest in real estate, even though I still maintain my broker's license.

Then I was blessed - along came Jessica Lynn, another great-granddaughter, born to granddaughter Karen and hubby, David.

My farewell party cake upon retirement after 12 years. Now, by way of the Internet, I help others to find good health and wealth. For my secrets, email me at plantlady38@aol.com

A few years later, at age 4, Jessica is learning from Granny Higgins how to plan an azalea bush. She always wants to help - she even helped me bake cookies!

I love doing needlework; made most of my own clothes in these pictures and all of these stuffed animals that I sold at the craft shows in the malls.

Haley Faith wants to say 'Hello!' She is the daughter of my great-grandson, Chucky. Yep! That makes me a great, great grandmom! How the years do pass. But they don't show. I'll give away my secrets if you ask at plantlady38@aol.com.

I've always had German shepherds in my life. Here are Pretty Girl (lying down). We kept one of her puppies, Princess (front). Buddy (standing) was her pup from the former owners. They give love, devotion, and security.

The 'Barn' after I converted it into our home; added the front porch and colums, etc. It still needs some finishing, but is quite liveable.

Bob built 'The Barn' for his workshop and warehouse for his building business. The center had been for his rolling equipment. Upstairs was scheduled for an apartment.

In Florida, zuchini squash grow fast and big. I have a wonderful recipe for zuchini bread-cake that can be made in the microwave. I'll send a copy; just email plantlady38@aol.com.

My brother, Emil came to live with me, but now he is confined to a wheelchair. I stay home with him and earn $$ through the Internet. Information e-books are a good way to start. To become wealthy, I'll help you get your own website - email me!
