My Bio

Welcome to the Ray Morby Personal Web-site. I’m a retired widower and WWII veteran who enjoys fishing, boating, working and helping others. I want to mention that I have two brothers that served in WWII and we all helped Uncle Sam battle through the South Pacific from Pearl Harbor to the Philippines. In my 80 years I have experienced all the hardships and joys that a life lived well delivers. My favorite quote sums up my feelings about my past while guiding my future. “Never give up, always try again!” I became a steel building dealer in 1969, despite some serious doubters, who counseled me not to take such a risk. In my first 3 months, I sold 3 buildings and was off and running with my new business. I knew that I could offer a quality product and great service that would make connections with my customers. This approach allowed me to compete against larger companies that didn’t always do business with a handshake that really meant something. In 1974, I broke my back and shoulder but was still able to negotiate a contract for a steel building and signed the contract on the way home from the hospital. We broke ground on the foundation a couple days later. Unfortunately 2 months after my accident, my wife passed away and I was faced with the prospect of working and raising a family as a single father. Mary Lou, my oldest daughter, was in college at the time while the two younger ones, Raeleen and Randall, were at home and going to school. I’m very proud of my children and consider them as my greatest success. They grew up smart and free of drugs and alcohol. I like to think I did a pretty good job but I know that God blessed my wife and me with great kids so even though it was a lot of work, His blessing made it a labor of love. In 1998, I fell off a ladder and banged my head on a concrete floor which left me in a coma for 10 days. After 6 weeks of rehab and a few years, I have retrieved most of my memories. Nowadays I spend a lot of time working my Mall of The World business and enjoying my Siamese cat “Tommy.” I saved him from deplorable conditions, caged in a filthy barn that hadn’t been cleaned for a long time - you get the drift. I know I sure did when I walked into the barn! He’s happy, healthy and full of life I enjoy him a lot. Please take your time and get to know me, my kids and grand children on this site and consider the opportunities and values that my Mall of The World has to offer, and always remember to never give up, always try again! God Bless you and your family.

My granddaughter Chelsea holding Ian. When he was born, he only weighed 1 pound, 12 ounces.

Here are Chelsea, Ian and me.

This is my car project that I started working on.

Here's my grandson Jeremy on Easter. He sure looks happy.

Chelsea and I eating breakfast - the most important meal of the day!

Look at this cowboy riding the bull.

Monkey see ... monkey do.

Here's what I look like when I don't have my hands full.

My grandson Ian all alone.

Chelsea looks like she's starting a new dance!

Here's the new house. We bought it mainly because of the front lawn.

This is the lawn after we covered it with grass. Nobody told me I was gonna have to mow it, too!

This is my daughter Raeleen and her two sons Mike and Sam.

This is me looking at something important.

Here is the lawn not quite finished yet.

How do you like the fruits of my labor? This is the same car shown above.

Workin' hard on the outside of our new house.

The house after we're all finished.

Now time to start on the inside.

This is my cat Tommy. He's not only the boss of the house but one of my best friends.

His favorite place in the house is in the middle of the kitchen floor - right in the way of everything.

Here he is on one of his daily patrols around the house.

I wanted to get a picture of him on my lap, but he is far too shy.

Everytime somebody sets foot on the front porch he scrambles down to the basement.

These are just a few more pictures of Tommy in the kitchen.

Lounging around again.

Stop waking me up to take my picture!

Hmm...another package from T.J. Hey Ray - you should open this right away!!
