My Bio
My name is William Lawler and thanks you for checking out my Personal Web-Site! I welcome you to get to know me as I relate a little of my life story. I was born in southern Illinois on a farm in 1926. My father died in 1942, so I ran the family farm until I was called to duty for the Army in February, 1945. I had 7 sisters at home and was making $20.10 a month and my mother and sisters drew allotments. Four of my sisters went to convents and became nuns and all have Masters in Education. They are retired from teaching and three are married. I was discharged in August, 1946 and worked for the government for 3 years as a mechanic, while attending night school to be a motor tune-up specialist. I then went to Wyoming on a GI Bill to learn all phases of the trade. While there, I ran wreckers over frozen highways, worked in the shop and parts department, and took flying lession in J4 and J3 Piper Cubs. I came back to Utah and worked for the government as a top grade journeyman mechanic. This involved working with heavy equipment, including missles, radar, and electronics. This allowed me to start my own mobile tune-up business that I ran for 28 years. I am now on a medical retirement for loss of hearing. I still enjoy building birdhouses and spending time with my wonderful family. Through all of it, my lovely wife of 57 years has stood by me. We have six grown children, 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Thank you for spending time with me and have a terrific day!
